DELTA SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONES

The Delta Special Economic Zone project has been on course for over 3 years before its creation. Delta State steering Committee on Export Free Trade Zones at the time was saddled with the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority(NEPZA) an other relevant bodies towards the establishment of the Free Trade Zones. The committee in her wisdom resolved to resuscitate and expand the moribund Koko Free Trade Zone to accommodate both the Koko and Kwale areas. On April 26, 2023 the Federal Government of Nigeria through the management of NEPZA issued the Delta Special Economic Zones Management Company FZC (Koko and Kwale Free Trade Zones) liscence to Delta State Government which was received by the immediate-past Governor, Senator. Dr Ifeanyi Okowa. The license also came with the appointment of the Board of Directors of the Company. The Delta Special Economic Zone has approximately 3,200 Hectares of land at both Koko and Kwale Free Trade Zones. The Koko Free Trade Zone has 2,200 Hectares while the kwale Free Trade Zone has 1000 Hectares of land.

The DSEZMC-FZC in collaboration with the Delta State Government, investors and stakeholders are committed to promote a conducive environment for investment in the zones. As part of their policy trust to encourage investors, monitoring the performance of investment is a key role for the company, this monitoring entails tracking investment, job creation, exports and other key economic indicators. The company has also put in place a legal framework to promote ease of doing business within the zones.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) in partnership with the Delta State Government is sponsoring the Special Agro-Industrial Processing zone in Kwale FTZ where facilities and technology will be deployed to enhance Agro-Industrialization in the zone. The project has 200 hectares of land to it’s credit. Also, the Delta wire limited a subsidiary of Eastern metals limited is already constructing a multi-billion naira project for the production of collated nails, screws, flats. Channels and Angle Steel in Kwale free trade zone. The project is expected to commence operation in the next 18 months.

Delta Special Economic Zone Management Company have also signed a development agreement with Okime Partners and Advisors to invest in the Koko Free Trade Zone.
